We want to deliver a step change in our labour market that builds on the progress of recent years to create jobs and opportunities in every part of the region. This includes helping those who have been long term unemployed or who have low work aspirations to be able to easily access high quality training. We will also focus on increasing levels of technical training and ensuring that we have the right type of businesses accessing higher-level skills that will drive improvements in overall prosperity and opportunity.

SYMCA, in collaboration with the delivery partner, Calderdale College, are also deliverying the South Yorkshire Skills Bank programme. The Skills Bank team can work with businesses, whether individuals or larger-scale employers, to analyse the skills and capabilities of the business and their employees. Skills Bank will then help identify emerging opportunities within businesses and foster a better understanding of what support is available immediately, and in the future, to offer greater resilience. A range of flexible training is available that can be tailored to suit each business, or support businesses in sourcing their own training; just tell Skills Bank what training you require and they will do the rest.
